Talarico's

Last Friday, I awoke to the thought of getting out and doing something different.  After a holiday week of home-cooked dinners and lingering leftovers, it was time for something festive yet simple.  Pizza and drinks sounded like the logical solution.  What could be more festive than GIANT pizza slices!  At Talarico’s Pizzeri in West Seattle, you get two choices: a whole 28" pie, or 14" long made-to-order slices.  They have have a great big bar, lots of seating, and enough wait staff.  What could go wrong?

We opted for 4 slices and a variety of toppings.  Delivered on wax paper, cradled by silver serving plates, atop a table large enough to accommodate one of Talarico's full-sized pizzas, the food looked believable enough.  Where things started to fall apart was in the lack of cohesion and herbs.  The oversized and under-seasoned bread triangles could have been pre-baked, and probably were.  The sauce tasted as if from a can, while the cheese sang its own song of loneliness afloat on a sea of pureed tomato bitterness.

The crumbled pile of sausage to my right went almost untouched.  The toppings of mine were cold and undercooked.  I was disappointed in the pizza, the atmosphere and service were fine.
